Problem Statement
In bustling urban environments, where lifestyles are fast-paced and living spaces are often limited, adopting a dog can be a complex and challenging process. CityPup has identified several key obstacles that potential adopters face, including diverse lifestyle needs, specific pet preferences, urban living constraints, and a lack of tailored adoption solutions. These challenges create barriers for city dwellers looking to find the perfect canine companion, highlighting the need for a more seamless, user-friendly adoption experience.

Ellie 27yrs
Ellie is a 27-year-old professional who recently moved into her own apartment and is excited to adopt a dog. She actively follows adoption agencies and seeks advice from dog-owning neighbors to make an informed decision. However, she finds adoption websites frustrating due to misleading information, often falling in love with dogs that may not be a good fit for her lifestyle. Ellie values transparency, accurate pet profiles, and guidance in finding the right companion for her urban living situation.

Usability Testing
CityPup conducted usability testing with five participants: Drea, Mara, Tony, Nohemy, and Sasha. Overall, participants responded positively to the platform's minimalist and clean layout, appreciating its straightforward navigation and the clarity of the animal photos. The option to include videos also piqued the interest of some users, enhancing engagement.
Mara and Nohemy noted that while the pet profiles were informative, they would benefit from additional details, such as the dog’s background and history with previous owners. Tony identified minor alignment issues and missing UI elements but appreciated the visibility of key adoption details, such as fees and the adoption process.
Sasha and Drea raised questions about whether the platform would provide access to foster applications, highlighting a potential area for expansion. However, both found the navigation intuitive and user-friendly, even for first-time users.
Overall, participants felt that the platform’s navigation met their expectations and effectively supported the pet adoption process. Their feedback highlights opportunities for refinement, particularly in providing more comprehensive pet profiles and improving UI consistency.
Key Takeaway
This prototype goes beyond being just a solution—it is a user-centered approach designed to transform the pet adoption experience. By prioritizing clarity, accessibility, and emotional connection, it aims to make the process more seamless, informative, and fulfilling. The key takeaway is a commitment to exceeding user expectations, ensuring a positive, engaging, and memorable journey for every adopter.
